AN 80-BORE PERCUSSION PRESENTATION DOUBLE-ACTION REVOLVER, NO. 36007

5-inch octagonal barrel, the top surface signed "Hill, Maker, Birmingham", the presentation inscription reading "Presented to Mr David Dewar as a mark of respect by a few of his acquaintances (now in Birmingham) who have found him a faithful and valuable friend. Birmingham January 1862", 5-shot cylinder and loading lever, chequered walnut grips, retaining much bright nickel-plate finish, possibly re-finished overall, in its maker's case with mould, flask, etc

David Dewar was the Chief Constable and Procurator Fiscal of the Burgh of Dundee who retired in 1909 after a distinguished 50 year police career. His portrait hangs in the Dundee Art Galleries.
