The rifle appears to have been refurbished in service and purchased by the vendor from Tom Collins' shop in London in the late 1960s. The fore-end wood and hand guards appear to be beech replacements, the telescopic sight is mismatched, the mount being impressed "H33372" (the scope and mount numbers tally with the label inside the tin).
